Embrace of Darkness

Steps echo in the night
A light flashes on in the distance
A face cast in it's pale light
Her face awash of color
Dark eyes, fathomless pools
Briefly grief flashes, pain beneath
Her head tilts back, then her gaze drifts forward, focuses
Direct, determination, challenge, an edge of danger

Black velvet cloak snaps, black silk dress swirls as she walks
Night flows over her, but does not obscure
It's caress is light upon dusky skin
Hips sway to a melody only she hears
Dark chestnut locks drift and sway
She is a Mistress of Night
None shall rule her
Her birthright makes her strong
Determined to go it alone
